The Seattle Coyote Study

Aim: Our aim is to understand the diet and population size of urban coyotes in Seattle, Washington and promote human-coyote coexistence in urban regions.

Community Science

The Seattle Coyote Study is built on community involvement. We aim to have a large portion of our scat samples be collected by community volunteers in an effort to engage the community and educate people about coexisting with urban carnivores. If you are interested in volunteering, we'd love to hear from you! Click here for more information.

Research

Our research currently is focused on the diet of urban coyotes. Understanding what Seattle urban coyotes eat will help us understand how urban ecosystems function, the role of urban carnivores, where human-coyote conflicts may exist, and the potential benefits of having urban carnivores for humans. For more information on our research please click here.

Collaborators

The Seattle Coyote Study is run in collaboration with Woodland Park Zoo's and Seattle University's Seattle Urban Carnivore Project. To learn more about the Seattle Urban Carnivore Project, please visit their website.
